We love to talk about home automation, but we understand if people are a bit apprehensive about it. Most folks go into "tech shock" with the mere mention of the word automation. Visions of complex technology that no normal person could ever operate come to mind. As you will see, nothing could be further from the truth.

Simplicity Despite the perception, home automation is built to make technology simple so that anyone can operate even the most sophisticated of systems. After all, this is the same technology that allows presenters to control fancy boardroom systems, allows assembly lines to move with little human interaction, and the physically handicapped to do tasks previously not possible. Automation is powerful, but the interface with the user is simple.

Systems Integration By simplifying the interface, we provide the opportunity for people to control multiple systems in their home through a single access point. With a color touchpanel, you can now access music systems, internet, HVAC controls, security, irrigation, pool/spa, lighting, and just about anything else that requires monitoring or control. For instance, a large home may have 4 zones of HVAC or more. With automation, I can see the temperature in all 4 zones at once. By touching on that zone's temp, I can then simply adjust up or down, auto, fan, etc. No need to even put thermostats on the walls and every zone can be controlled from any panel in the home. So, your panel in the bedroom will show you when the kids have turned the AC down 10 degrees and you can turn it back up without having to go upstairs. Clean, convenient, and simple.

Improved Aesthetics There is no need for alarm keypads, thermostats, or separate music controls with home automation. Everything can be done easily from one simple panel. The larger the panel, the easier the control because more information can be contained on a single screen. Most panels also allow for video transmission, so surveillance cameras & television can be viewed at the touch of a button.

One Brand vs. The Others Remember, the point of home automation is simplicity. Reliability has to be a given since you are integrating every system in the home onto one platform. Cheap rarely means reliable and that is especially true in automation products. Many new companies promise "automation for the masses" which translates into cheap. Unfortunately, these products also haven't been around long enough to develop any kind of track record in the field.

That is certainly not the case for Crestron. For 36 years, Crestron has been leading the way in automation. Today, they are the world's largest with more choices, better hardware, and a proven track record. It won't be the cheapest, but the best never is.
